From a modest beginning, through its formative years and progressive years the CBJEF has come a long way to stay on as a study contributor to educational activities
1956
CBJEF was set up by Canara Bank & became a Registered Society.
1958
BookBank opened in Bangalore.
1960-1980

  • Loan Scholarship scheme for deserving meritorious students.
  • Book Banks for rural High Schools.
  • Application of "Student Associate" (journal) and quick Literacy Guide.
  • Orientation courses in community service, consumer education, village teachers' training, promoting girls' education, participation in youth club activities.
  • Supply of school uniforms & maps/charts, participation in educational activities coordinated by Canara Bank, H.O. and related organizations/Canara Bank Relief and Welfare Society.
1981
Silver Jubilee year of CBJEF.
2006
Golden Jubilee year of CBJEF.
2007
The Golden Jubilee function was held at Canara Bank's Head Office in Bangalore on 14th August 2007. Shri M.B.N.Rao, Chairman & MD, Canara Bank presided over the function and released the Book, "CBJEF - fifty years of fulfilling service", documenting the inception and progress of CBJEF, covering the 2007 past 50 years.
2011
Shri. S. Raman, Chairman & MD, Canara Bank presided over a function organized on 23 rd May, 2011 and disbursed CBJEF's educational assistance to deserving students.
Some prominent activities from recent past include supporting Science education, coordinating with Organizations like “Prerana”, the “Sanjivi Janardhan Kini Trust", felicitations to Book Bank members for academic achievements.
2014
Inauguration of CBJEF's Library Automation System of 13th Sept., 2014, by Shri R.K.Dubey, Chairman & MD, Canara Bank, at a function held in Canara Bank's Staff Training College premises.
2016
The CBJEF completed 60 years of fulfilling service in the year 2016. The Diamond Jubilee function held on 20 th October, 2016 was graced by Shri Rakesh Sharma, MD & CEO, Canara Bank, and otherdignitaries. A commemorative booklet about CBJEF "Scaling New Heights -Sixty Years of Fulfilling Service", was released on the occasion.
